Reflecting on ACL Reconstructive Surgery & Percocet

Well, here I am. Sitting on the floor blogging while my leg is being extended and flexed slowly in this Continous Motion Machine. The surgeon said that I need to do this about 8 hours a day. I thought, “8 hours!! Where I am going to find 8 hours?” Turns out, it’s pretty easy when you cannot walk/stand/move too well. I’m going on 10. I figure I’ll be jogging by the end of the week.

Thankfully, the pain is pretty bearable. I have percocets but I have only taken a couple so far. (Though everyone has warned me not to get addicted but I am taking only a few to send a message to the drug companies. And that message is umm, … “thanks don’t stop making these entirely, but don’t make too many either. And could you add some sugar so they taste a little better?) That’s right, one person can make a difference.

  1. Congratulations on surviving your surgery! I didn’t know you were on tap for reconstruction.

I have also discovered lately that knees are NOT overrated. I’m training for a marathon right now, and I gotta tell ya: I could not do it without my knees.

BTW, I’m assuming you wrote your Percocet comments while taking Percocet, correct? That would explain a lot. :)

  3. Jason. uhh, I guess I am supposed to say yeah, but I haven’t taken any percocets since yesterday morning. If I sound high, it’s the Holy … never mind. Don’t want to offend anyone. (People iin the blogging world are so touchy).

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes and hope your marathon goes well. Personally I think you shouldn’t waste your time on such non-sense but rather immerse yourself in the healthy practice and discipline of levitation that way you will always have your knees and ankles and …

But really, and I am totally serious, I haven’t had any percocets since yesterday morning (Sunday). Jesus, coffee, and the love of my good woman are my only drugs of choice.
